SUMMARY:

Primary function of this position is to ensure the proper management of Logistics Specialist team in the execution of the daily operational plan by managing the company assets to achieve profitability. The Logistics Supervisor will work under the direction of the assigned Manager to efficiently manage the operations, safety and driver performance. The position requires professional communications, computer and presentation skills. Position represents the company in a positive image with employees, customers and the community always performing in a safe and ethical manner.

Job Requirements

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:

  • The Logistics Supervisor manages the daily work of the assigned Logistics Specialist to plan, execute, monitor and manage a component of assigned drivers/equipment and implement the customer plans, routes, schedules, and to pick up or deliver freight.
  • Responsible for the training and monitoring of performance of assigned Logistics Specialists.
  • Responsible for holding assigned Logistics Specialist accountable to DOT regulations, operations, equipment usage, and the compliance to company policies.
  • Responsible for effective communication across all departments.
  • Maintains knowledge of all processes and procedures required to execute assigned tasks.
  • Communicates all critical information including service issues to our customers, shippers, suppliers and / or supervisors or managers on duty.
  • Works with safety and compliance, recruiting and human resources to exceed driver retention and safety targets.
  • Ensures proper communication is made by Logistics Specialists to assigned drivers information regarding relevant regulations (DOT, OSHA, C-TPAT), safety awareness and corporate policies.
  • Responsible for the Logistics Specialist communications with customers and shippers regarding any changes to schedules and pick up’s throughout the day.
  • Responsible for achieving the assigned Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s) goals, including but not limited to, loaded miles percentage, on-time service, asset utilization, scanning accuracy, deadhead avoidance, dwell minimization, TMW accuracy and fuel efficiency within their control.
  • Works cross departmentally to execute network driver capacity plans while eliminating long-term and short-term imbalances and ensures customer service commitments are met.
  • Demonstrates proficiency in the use of all available tools including but not limited to: TMW, Peoplenet, Speedguage, PC Miler, Inventory in Motion (IIM), Time Clock Management (TCM), TracKing, Skybitz and SSRS reporting.
  • Maintains a working knowledge of Department of Transportation (DOT) and C-TPAT regulations, industry seasonality, issues, driver capacity and demographics trends.
  • Manages operations frugally with an eye for cost control, waste reduction, while maintaining the highest levels of quality, safety and customer service.
  • Works with assigned drivers to meet/exceed expected service targets through:
    • Properly executing the strategies identified by the Director/Manager.
    • Works as a member of the team to successfully complete action plans assigned by the department Manager/Supervisor to ensure results are realized.
  • May be required to attend meetings as necessary and provide updates on the activities of the day.
  • Required to adhere to all BLS policies, procedures, DOT and OSHA safety rules and regulations. Strict adherence to C-TPAT best practices.
  • Follows all workplace processes and standards in support of the ISO-9001:2015, ISO 14001:2015, and OHSAS 18000:2007
  • Required to attend and complete all assigned company training.
  • Other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

High school diploma is required; Associate’s or Bachelor Degree in management, transportation or a related field is preferred. At least two years experience in logistics/transportation is preferred.
