We are looking for an In-House Legal Counsel to support Benore Logistic Systems, Inc, commercial activities by structuring, negotiating, employment engagement and closing contracts. This role will report to the VP of G&A. We'll need you to have excellent communication skills to interact with both internal departments and external business clients while addressing complex issues in an accurate, clear, and thorough manner.

The In-House Legal Counsel will operate out of our corporate office in Erie, MI.

  • Communication – Effectively communicates verbally and in writing with all levels in the Group, specifically including senior management and external stakeholders, such as government representatives and external advisors.
  • Negotiation Skills – Possesses strong negotiation and mediation skills required for effective representation of Group interests, including international dealings.
  • Legal Knowledge - Advanced knowledge of legal principles and rules pertaining to areas of responsibility; Ability to gather and interpret specialized legal knowledge as required.
  • Safety and Security - Observes safety and security procedures; Determines appropriate action beyond guidelines; Reports potentially unsafe conditions; Uses equipment and materials properly.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Identifies, investigates and responds to risks related to contractual relationships, regulatory requirements, compliance programs and corporate policies.
  • Develops, negotiates and administers draft agreements or contracts to protect BLS interests, including supply and services agreements, distribution, marketing, intellectual property issues and licensing, agency, and confidentiality / non-disclosure agreements.
  • Reviews and analyzes obligations under various corporate governance documents.
  • May provide drafting, negotiation and other legal support to BLS Executive Leadership team, including procurement of products and services, capital expenditures, and real estate leases or purchases.
  • Provides legal advice related to other business activity, labor and employee relations, employee benefits, regulatory and environmental matters.
  • Implements legal processes and adheres to BLS procedures to protect rights and privileges of the organization and fulfillment of its obligations.
  • Assists in the development, drafting and implementation of BLS policies and procedures.
  • Write and communicate legal opinions that may require extensive research of statutes, regulations, and/or court decisions in complex areas of law.

Job Requirements

  • J.D. degree from an ABA approved school or equivalent.
  • Licensed to practice law in Michigan as required to properly perform responsibilities of the Legal Counsel position.
  • Minimum 3 years of legal experience with major law firm and/or as in-house counsel.
