Job Description

SUMMARY: Provides direction and management of the Howell Rd department and yard management at the facility. Responsible for planning, organizing and monitoring the receiving, coordination, and distribution of all items received inbound and outbound, satisfying both internal and external customers. Sets, establishes and maintains procedures and targets for the department in conjunction with the Operations Manager or Director. Responsible to ensure customers’ requirements are met or exceeded. Strong interpersonal and leadership skills are required in this position. Represents the Company in a positive image working with our employees, customers, and community in a safe and ethical manner to achieve financial success.


  • Supervises the howell road receiving, break-down, consolidation and outbound shipping of product or materials and the day-to-day activities and work performance of howell road and yard.
  • Tracks deliveries to the customer, determine performance gaps, volumizes workload and manages inbound loads to the howell road and outbound loads to customer locations.
  • Responsible for yard management, location of trailers and ensures enough trailers for product deliver is available.
  • Assigns Associates and monitors flow of materials through the howell road facility and makes recommendations for process improvements.
  • Ensures accurate management of the shift, establishes and develops procedures for processing howell road shipments, and documentation or bills of lading for incoming product or material. Processes and delivers outbound loads and product or material to proper location within the customer’s facility and/or supplier orders.
  • Establishes policies for verifying incoming and outgoing shipments. Investigates discrepancies in the howell road process, determining root cause and implementing corrective action and continuous improvement for the howell road function.
  • Monitors SPORDS and enacts contingency plans as needed; escalates and directs activities during systems problems, disasters, etc.; identifies potential problems, troubleshoots, escalates issues to management, and participates in post-issue analysis of problems providing input for future process improvements.
  • Keeps immediate superior promptly and fully formed of all problems or unusual matters of significance and takes prompt corrective action where necessary or suggests alternative courses of action which may be taken.
  • Responsible for providing on–the–job training for howell road employees in all areas of their job duties including changes to company policy, procedures, and ISO-9001-2000 training and conformance.
  • Acts as Facility Safety Manager and conducts accident investigations and completes related documentation.
  • Required to attend and complete all company development, safety and compliance training. Required to adhere to all BLS policies, procedures, DOT and OSHA safety rules and regulations.
  • Assists with interviewing, hiring, safety, and training employees.
  • Assists with daily, weekly and monthly KPI reporting as determined by the Warehouse Operations Manager or Director.
  • Assists with analyzing performance gaps and creating action plans to address performance issues.
  • Responsible for continuous improvement and innovation as it related to improving processes, addressing performance, creating action plans and ensuring proper training and development of employees.
  • Responsible for maintaining a highly engaging culture, motivating employees, fostering an environment with high levels of teamwork, accountability, communication and vision to employees.
  • Strict adherence to C-TPAT best practices.
  • Follows all workplace processes and standards in support of the ISO-9001:2015, ISO 14001:2015, and OHSAS 18000:2007.
  • Required to attend and complete all company development, safety and compliance training.
  • Required to adhere to all BLS policies, procedures, DOT and OSHA safety rules and regulations.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements


Associate’s degree preferred and ten years experience, or three to five years experience and Bachelor’s degree with experience in management or supervision in a warehouse, distribution or materials management environment.
