SUMMARY

The primary function of the Asset Planner is the assignment and allocation of the company assets for the daily execution of operational activities to meet financial profitability goals. The position must comply with corporate processes involving safety, DOT, and operations, including the procurement and management of outside transportation. This position must be proficient in a variety of information systems; will require timely and professional communication and decision-making skills. The position represents the company in a positive image with employees, customers and the community always performing in a safe and ethical manner.

Job Requirements

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Responsible for the assignment of company assets including drivers, trucks and trailers for the execution of identified loads from the Logistic Engineering Team’s Load Plan.
  • Responsible to provide daily performance feedback to the Logistic Engineering team. This feedback will occur on a daily, weekly and monthly basis.
    • Daily performance feedback would include addressing any concerns regarding the daily load plan is and confirming updates are made.
    • Weekly performance feedback would include submitting the planned vs. actual numbers for the operations metrics.
    • Monthly performance would include planned versus actual number reporting for the month along with communicating network concerns and change requests to the LE team.
  • Responsible for maintaining Driver schedules to efficiently allocate to the Daily Load Plan.
  • Responsible to communicate any changes in start time to the Drivers daily.
  • Responsible for ensuring that the expected execution plan is up to date and accurate within the various IT systems, including IIM and TMW.
  • Responsible for the planning as it relates to DOT Compliance, asset utilization and maintenance, and operational performance (KPI evaluation and discussions).
  • Will be crossed trained for a working knowledge of the logistics operations.
  • Responsible for the operations team accountability as it relates to DOT compliance, operations performance, equipment usage, and company policies and discipline.
  • Other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Associates or Bachelor’s degree in business, logistics, or a related field or a minimum of five years in a dispatch or load planning position with a supervisory experiences in a fleet size/or driver size of 100 or more, utilizing a specialized transportation software.
