Job Description

This position will lead efforts toward the elimination of workplace injuries, accidents, or incidents, and/or related risk, by providing Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) direction and leadership. The position requires professional communications, computer and presentation skills. Position represents the company in a positive image with employees, customers and the community always performing in a safe and ethical manner.


?h Lead efforts to identify, recommend, develop, and implement best practice for BLS safety programs and help ensure standardization company-wide.

?h Manage and administer environmental, health, and safety programs to meet regulatory requirements, corporate initiatives, company objectives or relevant business partner requirements.

?h Facilitate incident investigations, root cause analysis, and closure of corrective actions.

?h Manage Worker's Compensation claims by investigating the circumstances of the claimed injury objectively, while minimizing costs and fraud. Act to prevent reoccurrence.

?h Develop, implement and sustain a behavioral safety based program and serve as a safety liaison.

?h Assist in the administration of OSHA, NFPA, EPA, and other relevant safety and environmental standards.

?h Administer and maintain compliance programs such as LOTO, Hazard Communication, Emergency Action Plans, Hot Work, Blood Bourne Pathogens, Confined Space, Fall Protection, etc.

?h Develop and promote a positive safety culture throughout the complete organization.

?h Partner with site management to ensure applicable EHS related goals (accident rates, training participation, etc.) and regulatory requirements (assessments, plans, training, etc.) are satisfied.

?h Administer accident prevention and reduction programs, ensuring that accidents are reported and assessed in a punctual manner.

?h Identify, establish, and/or maintain the safety training requirements

o Promote safety awareness; assist in safety and technical training.

?h Perform data analysis on accident and/or injury information to determine focus areas for remediation and prevention; risk management and loss prevention for the benefit of employees and visitors.

?h Monitor EHS related regulatory developments and determine applicability to each BLS site or site plan.

?h Complete, or assist in the completion of, required reporting and record keeping; OSHA and EPA.

o Write, implement, and manage EHS Programs, Policies and Procedures in accordance to corporate standards.

?h Perform Storm Water Discharge sampling and document events.

?h Serve as the safety committee leader/developer for all locations and ensure that safety meeting attendance and subject matters and topics are properly documented in accordance with company expectations.

?h Develop, manage, and keep current all site emergency action plans.

?h Assure that forklift (with licensing) or other specialized equipment training is performed and documented.

?h Partner with Facilities, architects, and other groups to ensure site construction/renovation activities incorporate EHS related considerations.

?h Duties can expand at the discretion and warrant of need as deemed appropriate by management.


This position has supervisory responsibilities, and will be responsible for supervision of safety and regulatory policies, plans, guidelines, and provisions involving direct or indirect control/accountabilities involving all Company employees.

Job Requirements


BS/BA degree preferred; Associates degree considered; seven (7) or more years experience with OSHA regulations and safety administration in a trucking, general industry, or warehousing environment. Professional experience and associated skills in a safety management function may substitute for any deficiency in education requirements.
